Care Guide
Keep your fursuit looking and feeling its best with these care instructions.
General Rules
Never machine wash any part of your fursuit. Avoid direct sunlight and heat sources when drying. Always air dry completely before storing. Keep food and drinks away from your suit — stains on faux fur are difficult to remove.
Disinfecting
After every wear, spray the interior of your fursuit with a mixture of isopropyl alcohol (70%) and water, or use a commercial disinfectant safe for fabrics. Pay special attention to areas that contact skin directly. Allow to air dry fully before storing.
Cleaning the Head
Never submerge the head in water — this can damage the foam base and any electronics inside. Spot clean the exterior fur with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Wipe the interior with disinfectant spray. For deeper cleaning, use a handheld fabric steamer on the exterior fur at a safe distance.
Cleaning the Bodysuit
Turn the bodysuit inside out and hand wash in a bathtub with cool water and a gentle detergent (no fabric softener). Gently agitate and squeeze — never wring or twist. Rinse thoroughly until water runs clear. Hang to air dry inside out, away from direct sunlight. A fan can speed up drying.
Handpaws & Feetpaws
Hand wash separately in cool water with mild detergent. For feetpaws with foam soles, avoid submerging the sole — clean the fur portion only and wipe the sole with a damp cloth. Stuff with paper towels while drying to maintain shape.
Tails & Extra Parts
Tails can generally be hand washed like the bodysuit. If the tail has a wire or internal armature, be gentle to avoid bending it out of shape. Armbands, collars, and bandanas should be spot cleaned or hand washed depending on materials.
Brushing Guide
Brush your fur regularly to prevent matting and keep it looking fresh. Always brush in the direction of the fur grain. Be gentle around seams and delicate areas like faces and ear tips.
| Fur Type | Recommended Brush |
|---|---|
| Short / shaved fur | Soft bristle brush |
| Medium pile | Slicker brush (use gently, inverted) |
| Long pile | Wide-tooth comb |
| Curly / textured fur | Fingers or wide-tooth comb only |
Storage
Store your fursuit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Stuff the head with plastic bags or place it on a wig head to maintain its shape. Hang the bodysuit on a wide hanger or fold loosely. Avoid sealed plastic bins — use breathable garment bags or open shelving to prevent moisture buildup and mildew.
Wear Tips
Stay hydrated — bring water and take breaks every 20-30 minutes. Use a cooling vest in warm weather. Have a handler or buddy with you at events. Remove the head immediately if you feel dizzy or overheated. Apply antiperspirant before suiting to reduce moisture inside the suit.
